In the design above I chose to embroider only the bottom layer of the two tiered skirt. As you can see the design is larger than the exposed area of the bottom layer of the skirt. If you are embroidering on a tiered skirt which has a sheer top layer you will be able to see your embroidery through the top layer which gives you even more depth and interest. If the top layer is opaque it is still an interesting look because as some of the design is hidden by the top layer you get the illusion that the embroidery covers the entire bottom layer.
