I created the necklace design above by using only three designs from my "Beads, Baubles and Bling" collection. I combined the diamond drop with a straight and curved length of chain. I copied, reversed and rotated the chains to create three intersecting draped chains and then finished it off with the diamond drop hanging from the center of the lowest chain. There are unlimited amounts of possible combinations for the designs in this very unique collection. To see all of the designs in this collection go to www.kenparsonsdesigns.com

Sometimes just finding a new spot in which to place embroidery makes all of the difference between an expected and mundane design and a new, fresh and original one. To create the design above I simply placed the tatoo design from my "It's A Boy's Life" collection on the cuffs and waistband of a sweatshirt. For this design it is the placement not necessarily the design that takes the end product from boring to brilliant. Using Compositions project based embroidery design software allows you to try out your design ideas on the actual garments before you embroider them, that is what makes this product so unique and allows you to be so creative. i created this wraparound tropical design simply by first defining three locations, the front, back, and sleeves. I then chose three tropical flowers from my "Tropical Florals" colllection and added two elephant ear palm leaves to each design to act as a unifying design device. The result is an upbeat design which acts like a horizontal stripe around the entire garment. You could also finish this off with the name of your favorite location or resort. I started this diagonal jacket design by defining the overall size and shape of my finished design. I then brought in two abstract leaf designs from my "Dress Up Your Designs" collection. My last step was to copy, move and reverse them until I came up with a design that was viually pleasing and occupied the area of the garment that I had originally defined. This simple design for a girl's t-shirt was created by adding lettering to the tiara design from my "Flash and Fantasy" collection. I then used the envelope tool to match up the lower arc to the curve of the tiara. See all of the designs in this collection at www.kenparsonsdesigns.com

To create this makeup bag and design. I first combined three makeup designs from my "Flash and Fantasy" design collection with the words "my makeup", which I used the web translator in Compositions project based embroidery software to translate into French. I then basted the two panels together on one side with the face of the fabric on the inside. I then flattened it out and and sewed a zipper on the inside under the based seam. I then finished it off by turning it inside out and sewing up the three remaining sides. The finished product is a quick and easy makeup bag, you could also have cut out two panels, identical to your fabric panels, of clear plastic to line the bag and make it waterproof. To create the design above, I combined the bud border design from my "Dress Up Your Designs" collection with the pheasant from my "Barnyard Birds" collection and finished it up with two different lily designs from my "Fabulous Florals" collection.
Then then adjusted the colors to work well together, then copied rotated and reversed the designs to create an overall lazy "s" shape to snake along the leg of the jeans. I created this embroidery crest using 4 designs from my "Create A Crest" collection.I started with the Crown flourish and then added the red and gold crest on top of it. I then placed the banner on the bottom. On top of the banner I typed in the word "Embroidery" and used the envelope function to make the word conform to the shape of the banner. The last element I added was the needle and thread from the same collection. I separated them and duplcated the needle so the two would cross on the top and a single spool of thread on the bottom. The entire project was quick and easy. To order your own collection and create a similar crest yourself go to www.kenparsonsdesigns.com

This pillow design demonstrates an excellent usage for the circle template feature in Compositions project base embroidery design software. The entire design was created using only one design from my "Dress Up Your Designs" collection and combining it with the monogram function. I then finished it off by placing two more rotated and flipped versions of the same design in the four corners. To create the t-shirt design above I first used one of the cyclists from my "Its'a Boy's Life" collection and copied it using the neckline tool and and set it on the zig zag pattern so it duplicated the design five times in a zig zag pattern. I then did the same thing with the second cyclist design which placed it on top of the first set of five designs. I then moved them over to offset the two groups of designs. Finally I added the lettering which is also from the same collection, then I finshed it off by changing all of the colors to white. You can see how the neckline function works by watching the demo at www.kenparsonsdesigns.com

In the design above I created 5 different hoopings to create the illusion of an allover black and white embroidered design. The designs that I used were multi-colored so I changed them to one color (white). All of the designs I used were from my "Fantatic Flora" collection which gave the design additional continuety. The design follows the bold black and white trend mentioned in my last post. To see all of the designs and to create your own bold design go to www.kenparsonsdesigns.com

According to infomat.com embroidery especially black and white is an important component in the fashion cllections for Winter 2007 "The ultimate in chic simplicity; black and white makes a return in all combinations imaginable. The basic palette allows for a variety of print and embroidery techniques to be employed. Bold graphic florals are allover, delicate botanicals can be beaded or embroidered on top of and illustrative quirky prints look fresh and modern. Think white embroidery onto black grounds; cording and braid work have instant texture and impact, utilize contrast and play up the positive and negative!"

I created the kitchen towel design by combining various different vegitables from my "Perfect Produce" collection with the lettering "Bon Appetit". The lettering was created by using the web translater to convert it from English to French. To see how both the web translater and phrase translator work you can view the demo on my website at www.kenparsonsdesigns.com

In the design above I chose to embroider only the bottom layer of the two tiered skirt. As you can see the design is larger than the exposed area of the bottom layer of the skirt. If you are embroidering on a tiered skirt which has a sheer top layer you will be able to see your embroidery through the top layer which gives you even more depth and interest. If the top layer is opaque it is still an interesting look because as some of the design is hidden by the top layer you get the illusion that the embroidery covers the entire bottom layer. This same idea can be used with just about any design which can be repeated. See all of my dsigns at www.kenparsonsdesigns.com

In the design above, I combined a line from a Shelley poem with the roses from mt "Fantastic Florals" collection to represent Spring and four intertwined holly branches from my "Create a Centerpiece" collection to represent Winter. This is a very simple design, but I feel it definately suggests the meaning of the very optomistic poetic line. To see all of the designs available go to www.kenparsonsdesigns.com

I created the design above using only the free floral designs which are included when you purchase Compositions project based embroidery design software. By enlarginging, reducing, elliminating details and changing colors I created the illusion of many other different images. I then ordered them in an asymmetrical design which creates interest and gives a very 60's look to this very simple t-shirt. Go to www.kenparsonsdesigns.com to download your free 30 trial of Compositions software and you can reproduce this design for free.
